Water Quality Management System

Splash of Water

The Importance for Residential & Commercial Building Drinking Water Quality Monitoring

In Hong Kong, the Water Supplies Department (WSD) is responsible for the drinking water quality distributed to commercial and residential buildings up to the Lot Boundary of the building.  Once the water enters the building water supply system, it is the property management or owners' committee responsibility to ensure water quality meets WSD's standards.

As water runs through pipes and tanks within the building, if property managers do not ensure routine cleansing of tanks and inspection of water quality within the building, it may lead to poor water quality that may remain undetected until physical characteristics are identified e.g. change in color or taste.  Such changes may result to potential harm to human health.
